CONTRIBUTORS: HONEYZEL ONTOLAN AND DR. EMRAN OF SIMPLE HEALTH RADIO
On today’s episode of the Simple Health Radio Podcast, Dr. Emran is joined by Shelly Rael, a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Licensed Dietitian (LD) who has many years of experience in the area of wellness and disease prevention.
Shelly talks about how she got into Nutrition field, her educational requirements, and additional training. She helps adults reduce the risk of chronic diseases and helps them manage their own lives by coaching them one on one about nutrition.
To her, the real meaning of the word ‘diet’ is a “pattern of eating”. It is really about how people eat on a day-to-day basis. Most people don’t understand that and often associate diet with negative a point-of-view such as weight loss.
She emphasized that the food has a relationship with how you feel and disease risks. Shelly wants to spread the message that the pattern of eating today affects how you feel today and tomorrow in direct and indirect ways. It’s better to start to make some changes to your diet before a serious diagnosis rather than after. People should focus on healthy by analyzing all foods, chemicals, and supplements that are going to be put into the body.
Shelly shares some useful thoughts that one food or one meal is not going to give you a disease. Rather, it’s a pattern of eating and making a healthier choice happen at any moment.
You don’t have to wait before making changes to your diet!
